Post-Doctoral Bridge to Business Program

An Invitation from the Dean

Dr. Sorensen

Dr. Sorensen

It gives me great pleasure to invite you to participate in Virginia Tech's Post-Doctoral Bridge to Business Program. This 8-week, leading-edge, residential program is designed exclusively for select, qualified applicants interested in obtaining tenure-track positions within AACSB member institutions. Graduates of AACSB endorsed programs can be, based on determination of the hiring school, considered academically qualified for the period of five years from program completion.

As chair of the AACSB Doctoral Faculty Shortage Working Group, I have worked closely with deans across the United States and throughout the world to establish approved programs that will prepare high-quality faculty from non-business disciplines for AACSB academic qualification and also increase the supply of doctoral faculty to our schools.

Here at the Pamplin College, our program is now in its third successful year. As a dean, I know that it is already highly valued by my peers. They know our faculty firsthand and are confident that our residential bridge program will deliver the rigor and quality of our traditional degree programs which they fully respect.

We offer you an exceptional educational experience, with the quality and challenge of a well-established, fully-accredited doctoral program that emphasizes scholarship, research and teaching excellence. You will network and form lasting connections with Pamplin faculty and the other participants in your class.

We are committed to providing top-quality business education through outstanding teaching by full-time faculty who are nationally and internationally recognized in theoretical and applied research. You will work with senior faculty experienced in the teaching and administration of our graduate programs.

The Pamplin College of Business has long experience in advanced and continuing business education. In addition to our degree programs, we offer customized, non-degree management and professional development programs addressing organization-specific strategic issues. The development of our Post-Doctoral Bridge to Business Program reflects our continuing commitment to bring our knowledge to work for you.

Sincerely,

Richard E. Sorensen
