What will the Post-Doctoral Bridge to Business Program do for me?
- Expanded Academic Opportunities
This eight-week, residential program will provide you with the knowledge and skills to seek academic, tenure-track positions at colleges and schools of business that emphasize achievement in instruction and research/publication in the academic journals of finance and marketing.
- Content, Pedagogy, and Research
Exposure to a range of instructional styles will help you develop effective pedagogical skills for teaching in business schools, across academic levels, ranging from undergraduate to executive and doctoral degrees. In addition, the curriculum will leverage your prior academic training to promote opportunities for interdisciplinary research with faculty who have received doctorates in business fields.
The instructional modules include content preparation in the core areas of a discipline, as well as instructional techniques for business teaching, including syllabus design, project management, and case method instruction. The research component will enable you to develop a program of research, building on your prior training and current areas of business inquiry. The program schedule affords the time to move a research initiative from idea to instantiation, with ongoing feedback from VT faculty.
- AACSB Accredited Programs
This program is endorsed by AACSB International, the premier accrediting body for business schools worldwide. Graduates of AACSB endorsed programs can be, based on determination of the hiring school, considered academically qualified for the period of five years from program completion.
